After an 8-year career break, I don't know where to begin again. Is sewing a realistic restart?

Swetha Ramesh asks

A question we hear often
I worked before marriage and left my job after my daughter was born. She is 8 now, and I don't feel ready to go back to the same corporate routine. I have always enjoyed clothes and sewing, so I am wondering whether I can build something around that instead.

ONSA's Answer

Eight years is a real gap, Swetha, and it's completely fair that going back to the same corporate life doesn't feel right anymore — you've changed in that time, not just the job market. Sewing is a genuinely sensible way back in, because it doesn't force one big decision on day one. You can rebuild the skill quietly first, and only later decide whether it becomes personal orders, freelance work, a small business, or something bigger. Try not to compare your pace to people who never took a break — that isn't a fair comparison to yourself. Just focus on the next small step from exactly where you're standing now.
